JD Watches Tubi – A New Ghoul Blog Series
Heyo, birds and dogs, lets cut right to the chase! Michelle and I have been talking about ways we could do more with our World Famous Patent Pending Ghoul Blog, and I finally came up with something!
Do you know Tubi? It’s a free ad-supported streaming service (owned by Fox) with a really healthy library of titles from all sorts of genres. A couple of years ago, they started producing original content as well. And they have really put the pedal to the floor, with over 200 releases since 2021 (lolwut), many of which are horror movies. And this, naturally, is where I come in. I knew Tubi had made some horror movies, but I have never seen any of them, and I damned sure didn’t realize how many. They have been especially on my radar recently, with “Black Mold” and “Sorry, Charlie” getting some notice and positive press.
Anyway, getting to the point, I went through the entire Tubi Originals section and Horror Movies sections on Tubi and made a list of every horror or horror-adjacent movie I could find that isn’t some kind of weird documentary/reality thing or a bland-looking basic shark movie. I got a list of 33 titles. And then I found at least two titles that are Tubi Originals and horror movies, but are not listed in either category. I had to search them by name to find them. And then I realized Tubi is limiting categories to 200 titles. Why? How many others are there? Who knows. Anyway, I got 35 titles.
But, I digress. The point is to say I’m going to start watching all of these movies, mostly in release order, and doing Ghoul Blog writeups for each one. I say mostly because I am going to start with “Black Mold” and “Sorry, Charlie” to try and get some traction while those titles are still in active conversation. Then I’ll go back to the beginning and move forward. The list will grow with more new releases this year, and possibly more uncategorized titles yet to be discovered. I plan to drop them on Mondays at Midnight CST, starting this Monday, January 8. What will those posts look like? We’ll all find out together!
I am also planning to do a monthly special feature Ghoul Blog that will be more free-form, akin to previous posts. More on that when it happens.
Bonus: I didn’t tell Michelle. She’s learning about all this right now, just like you. Surprise, Michelle!
